Possibilities on AI regulation, by Edgar Alán Arroyo Cisneros

“The only limit for artificial intelligence is human imagination.”, Chris Duffey

In our previous article, we brought up the public letter that various leaders in technology, such as Elon Musk, and even esteemed intellectuals like Yuval Noah Harari, signed on March 22nd of this year. Through this letter, they emphasized the need to halt the rapid advancements of artificial intelligence (AI) due to the level of threat these developments pose in the context of our civilization and its current trajectory.

We were also discussing how the regulation of AI is an extremely complex issue that needs to be brought to the table for discussion nowadays. With this as a starting point, we want to draw the kind reader’s attention to the fact that regulating any recent technological phenomenon is a multifactorial task that begins—or rather, should begin—with a prerequisite condition: concise and clear definitions.

Indeed, before regulating AI, we must generate a consensus regarding what it is, its scope, alternatives and unique circumstances. Those making political decisions worldwide, apart from the technological giants that dominate the corporate sphere and are the main developers of AI, hardly have a clear enough panorama of it. The political class, as is common with many matters of public nature, tends to resort to demagoguery, populism, and nonsense. As a result, there is an essential imperative: to generate a global summit where the widest social sectors participate, led by governmental, technological, scientific, and innovation sectors, without neglecting others such as education or human rights. From this summit, strategies would unfold to articulate a common international policy regarding AI. That would be the genesis of a possible regulation of AI because from there onwards, each nation-state, in tune with the influence of the aforementioned technological giants—but also of wild powers such as organized crime and terrorist groups—would conceive its own model, which would lead to an impractical reality that requires cooperation, integration, and continuous dialogue.

AI represents a crossroads for humanity: either we take advantage of it to take us to the next level, or we allow its use for harmful purposes that jeopardize our future on the planet.

As Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has said, “What we all have to do is make sure we are using AI in a way that is beneficial to humanity, not detrimental.” It is clear that criminality, cyber pirates, hackers, electronic criminals, or terrorists care little about what the international community does or does not do in order to regulate AI properly. However, that does not mean that decision-makers around the world should give up on the immense range of obligations in terms of solidarity they have. Its regulation is undoubtedly essential, but what is even more important is that the first steps in this regard are taken with certainty, clear objectives, and transparent processes.

  1. In conclusion, as Chris Duffey aptly states, “The only limit for artificial intelligence is human imagination.” The discourse surrounding the regulation of AI is undeniably complex, necessitating a foundation of concise and clear definitions. The public letter signed by tech leaders and intellectuals underscores the urgency to address the potential threats posed by rapid AI advancements. To navigate this intricate landscape, a global summit involving governmental, technological, scientific, and social sectors is proposed. Only through collaborative efforts and continuous dialogue can we forge a common international policy, acknowledging the diverse influences shaping AI development and paving the way for effective and harmonized regulation across nation-states.

Here in this text it tells us about the limit of artificial intelligence where the issues of stopping AI for society were discussed but it also tells us that we can use it responsibly so that this use of artificial intelligence does not get out of control. What do we have to do so that this situation does not get out of hand?

  5. It will be extremely difficult to regulate AIs as it still is to regulate the Internet, since they are giant spaces full of information from all areas, in all languages, etc. and we can find it anywhere in the world; Artificial intelligence will make it more difficult, access for anyone and the information they provide could be erroneous or plagiarized, stepping on copyright, privacy and the inequality that its privatization will generate.
It is a topic that should undoubtedly be talked about because just as it can benefit us, it would be even worse for humans with a greedy and selfish nature.

Además de que la regulación de la IA es un desafío muy complejo pero es de suma importancia abordarlo ya que es una condición necesaria para garantizar que esta tecnología se utilice de una manera que beneficie a la humanidad.

In relation to the reading about the possibilities of regulation of AI, personally I consider that it is quite important, as mentioned, to hold a summit on AI regulations from which other countries can base themselves to also implement regulations, since the topic of AI is something relatively new and whose limits are certainly not known and this could be used for purposes that could harm, that’s why these regulations so that more than anything make it of benefit. 13. Chris Duffey gives us an interesting perspective on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the need and a good way to limit and regulate it. The author emphasizes the importance of establishing congruent definitions of AI before being able to effectively regulate it.

It also gives us the idea of creating a summit where several social areas are involved internationally to create a coordination where the ends have in common the aforementioned theme

And it analyzes the importance of regulating AI effectively and highlights the need to use it in a way that benefits humanity. The regulation of AI is essential and requires clear actions, precise objectives and transparent processes to ensure its correct use and avoid possible risks.

As we see, this article explains the above raised in the article titled Questions about the regulation of AI, by Edgar Alan Arroyo Cisneros, it talks about the need to implement measures to regulate the use and operation of AI, from my point of view taking As a reference, what I learned in this article, I consider that AI along with climate change are topics that must be debated and taken into account because they are two phenomena that could have a significant negative impact on humanity.

A clear example of this is the creation of nude images with this type of intelligence, which not only leads to defamation or identity theft but also violates more of your rights. The ugliest part in these cases is that you cannot defend yourself or is so difficult.
